Membrane Switches

Compact, thin, and highly rugged electric switches, membrane switches have become the next generation’s first-choice solution for user interfaces. Multi-layered and consisting of graphic overlays, spacers, and conducting circuits, among others, these layers, collectively, provide rugged reliability in space-optimised designs. Renowned for their thin form factor and reliable long-life performance, these switches are found in medical devices, consumer durables, industrial equipment, and vehicle systems.

We, the trusted membrane switch manufacturer in India, excel at creating custom solutions which merge design freedom and precise technological accuracy. Our switches may be customised to include tactile feedback, emboss, backlight, and even the inclusion of advanced printed electronics, so whatever their use, we can ensure conformance with their respective requirements.

The advantages of membrane switches lie in their ability to deliver aesthetic appearance and functional durability simultaneously. They can withstand exposure to water, dust, and chemicals and hence can be utilised wherever there is a possibility of mechanical switches malfunctioning. From rugged equipment used in industries to delicate healthcare appliances, these switches deliver assured performance under varying conditions.

With decades of experience as a leading membrane switch manufacturer, we understand firsthand how important it is for technology and usability to converge. Our designs, accordingly, equally focus on electric reliability and, more than that, optimise the entire end-user experience through readable labelling, ergonomic design, and tailored finishes.

By combining advanced materials, exacting engineering, and current design, our membrane switches give you the ultimate balance of durability, functionality, and style. From a complex control system in an industrial application to a consumer product, these switches give application requirements of today the reliability and performance needed.

Membrane Switches

Graphic Overlay

This switch's visual Display Windows Lenses & Doors layer is a graphic overlay. Polyester, which is more flexible and has superior chemical resistance than polycarbonate, is frequently used in the design of these overlays.

Graphic Adhesive Layer

The second membrane switch layer connects the presentation layer with the circuitry layer. This two-sided layer is sticky and made from polyester.

Circuit Layer

The circuit layer contains the electronics for the membrane switch and the dome. The circuit layer can be printed on Touch Screens technology or photochemically etched to produce conductive switch paths.

Spacer

The top and bottom circuit layers are separated by a spacer layer, which can be fabricated from heat-stabilized polyester. This covering fills the gaps between the keys on the keypad's face with vents. When the key is depressed, the cavity doesn't get too small.

Secondary Circuit Layer

This secondary circuit contains an extra circuit needed by the switch. Coatings like these are typically made from heat-resistant polyester ink-jet printed with dielectric and electrically conductive silver inks.

Adhesive Layer

The membrane switch's adhesive sheet is the final component on the device's backside. This part makes securing the switch package to the product case easier.

Benefits of Membrane Switches

Applications of Membrane Switches

Consumer appliances like coffee makers, ovens, thermostats, televisions, audio/video systems, and some lighting all use backlit membrane switches. The membrane switch is a common component in electronic gaming gadgets. Membrane switches are essential to operate vending machines, automated teller machines, and self-checkout kiosks. Membrane switches remotely regulate hazardous operations, such as those performed by large construction cranes, mining and excavation equipment, and metal processing plants.

Membrane switch keypads operate various farm machines, canning and bottling lines, conveyor systems, inventory tracking devices, cash registers, and ovens. For reliable operation and a good tactile feel with the low tactile force required to operate the keypads, Membrane Switches manufacturer IntraAction Electronics must incorporate excellent stainless-steel domes into the design of the membrane switches.

Characteristics of a Membrane Keyboard

Electrical contacts on the various membranes of a switch come together to perform their essential function. Because the electrical connection remains incomplete until the switch is triggered, backlit membrane switches are always in the "off" position until they are physically flipped. Most membrane switches are activated by applying pressure to the device, which brings the contacts of the various membranes together.

At IntraAction Electronics, we are a top notch Membrane Switches manufacturer that meets the needs of our customers. Our keypad is manufactured by trained professionals using premium components and following all applicable standards. This keypad is also tried in different ways to look for flaws and ensure it is of good quality. Several variations of this keypad are available to serve our customers better.
